Composition
The membership of this Sub-Committee shall be the same as the membership of the Vancouver Senate Budget and Academic Buildings Committee:
- Nine (9) members of the Vancouver Senate appointed by and from the Vancouver Senate, who must include at least six (6) faculty members and two (2) students.
- No member of the Budget Committee shall hold an administrative appointment as a Dean, Principal, Associate Vice-President or Vice-President.
Quorum: 50% of voting members
Terms of Reference
The Sub-Committee shall have the following terms of reference in addition to those assigned by the University Act and by the Council of Senates to the Council Budget Committee:
- Prepare an annual report outlining the work of the Committee and the general state of physical and budget resources available for the development and maintenance of the campus;
- Review, raise issues, and monitor the implementation of any Campus Plans or similar planning documents;
- Recommend priorities for academic buildings with consideration for the needs of academic and non-academic buildings, balance between type of teaching spaces, and relationship to physical plant and planning;
- Review and raise issues regarding the impact of every development, whether building or landscape, on the total teaching and academic resource, including but not limited to impacts on teaching spaces, campus wellbeing, accessibility and sustainability; and
- Make such recommendations as necessary to the Board of Governors:
- to maintain and keep in proper order and condition the real property of the university,
- to erect and maintain the buildings and structures, and
- to make rules respecting the management, government and control of the real property, buildings and structures.
